Why weren’t autopsies conducted on the victims of the Gopalganj incident? What is the law?

Five people have been reported dead so far in the violence surrounding a Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) program in Gopalganj. Hospital authorities confirmed the death of four people on the day of the incident. Another person died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday.

The bodies of the four people who died on the day of the incident were not autopsied. Their bodies were buried and cremated without post-mortem examination or autopsy.

However, this has raised many questions. Relatives of the deceased, police and hospital authorities have made conflicting claims.

Relatives of the deceased have alleged that they did not receive any assistance from the hospital or the administration on the day of the incident. They also claim that the bodies were forced to be cremated without an autopsy.
